September with Manna

This month in the newsletter: Celebrating LV Pride together, a Book Review, an Exciting News Teaser(!) and a Calendar update

In All Things Love: Moravians at LV Pride

This past weekend we joined several Moravian congregations from around the Lehigh Valley at Lehigh Valley Pride hosted by the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center - together, these congregations came to share the good news of Love, and we gave away glitter blessings, cans of water, stickers, and copies of the Moravian Daily Text (thanks IBOC!)

Thank you to the congregations, leaders, volunteers, and supporters who worked together to make this event possible. It was such a gift for all of us to meet so many wonderful people at Pride, to celebrate the power of Love, dance together, and share about our Moravian expression of faith!

Book Review: Beyond Wellness

Earlier this summer I had the oppurtunity to read and review Liz Bucar's most recent work for the Englewood Review of Books. That review is now live on their website! Here's a link to check it out:

TLDR; I do think this is a great resource and would be a good choice for a book club or reading group. In the review I wrote, "As younger generations disaffiliate with religious institutions, the grandparents and parents left in the pews find themselves on one side of a widening gap of understanding, with few resources to help them cross it. Beyond Wellness is a book that I can recommend to readers on both sides of that gap. It inspires curiosity and can open up conversations on topics from food traditions and higher powers to personal convictions and more. I can imagine that, at moments, readers on both sides could find themselves experiencing some discomfort, but it is precisely by working through that discomfort that we are invited into deeper learning." So - check it out!

A New Online Calendar

If you haven't visited our website in a while, we've been adding some new features, including our responsive calendar! Now, you can visit mannabethlehem.com/calendar and see what's going on - and don't worry, this will be getting filled in more and more in the coming weeks and months.

...and a hint of what's to come.

It's not quite the right time yet to fully share all the exciting news brewing in the Manna world, but just like Dillon (named by my children for their tendency to be on dill) will emerge when the time is right, this news will be coming soon. Keep an eye out for a bonus email this month with an update and opportunity for service!
